Position summary

We have the opportunity for experienced Mechanical Supervisors to join our Operations, Maintenance & Services division for upcoming shutdown work in the South West region. We are interested in your experience supervising maintenance crews, planning of maintenance work and managing job costs. You will have an outcome driven approach with the ability to positively influence and motivate your crew while upholding Downer's Zero Harm culture with a genuine commitment to the health and safety of all employees.

In addition to this you will:

  • Direct and control maintenance activities to ensure that standards of quality, cost, safety and performance are observed and that time schedules are met;
  • Review and authorise maintenance programme and completion schedules and delegate activities for the day-to-day direction of field schedule requirements;
  • Establish and maintain effective communications with the client and field staff through discussion and direct communications, holding meetings and any arrangements required to ensure a close and good working relationship;
  • Ensure reports are regular and communicated on all field activities, identifying any potential or existing concerns and problems that may affect project performance;
  • Be responsible for good housekeeping conditions in all areas associated with material storage/issue


To be successful you will have:

  • A nationally recognised trade qualification
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Mechanical Supervisor on maintenance shutdowns on power stations;
  • Hands-on experience supervising maintenance work teams to ensure that site activities are completed in accordance with safety, quality, environmental and productivity objectives;
  • Exceptional communications skills to clearly communicate work plans and required outcomes to the crew; and
  • Proven leadership ability with a very strong commitment to zero harm
  • Reside within 60km of the site - DIDO (there is NO accommodation provided)
