POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for an individual to work autonomously and control the strategic direction for Health & Wellness initiatives across all of Downers Mining West operations. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing musculoskeletal injury prevention initiatives, health and fitness programs, and exercise rehabilitation programs and support. You will be an exceptional communicator, with an outgoing disposition, with the ability to drive cultural change around employee health and wellbeing. With support from the Health and Safety Manager the right person will be able to make this role their own and utilise their diverse skillset within the one position.

  • Development, improvement and implementation of the health and wellness and fitness programs.
  • Systematic review and improvement of health and wellness delivery processes, standards and performance against corporate and departmental objectives.
  • Conduct health risk assessment, job risk profiling and analysis of medical results to drive relevant health and wellness programs.
  • Point of contact with the Company Doctor/HR and injured or ill person for injury management, contractor interface and technical advice
  • Provide technical support to the site-based HSE Advisors/Medics for issues such as injury management and return to work programs.
  • Coordination of regular health audits and surveys to meet Company and regulatory obligations and commitments, including the analysis of results, implementation of findings and development and implementation of resulting improvement plans.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and develop improvement strategies.
  • Support investigations relating to health and wellness incidents and events.
  • Flexible lifestyle roster to suit the individual. A mix of Perth based and site time.

ABOUT YOU

  • Tertiary Qualification (e.g. Exercise Physiologist, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years resource industry experience in the area of health, wellness and injury management.
  • Experience with environmental and occupational health management advantageous.
  • Working experience in health and safety management systems and/or approval regime.
  • Familiarity with local and national legislation relating to occupational health and safety, and workers compensation.
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated experience working on similar FIFO situation
  • High levels of initiative and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong safety focus with a high attention to detail to abide by site safety processes
