The National IR Manager will focus primarily on the FS&U business and lead collective bargaining outcomes, develop IR strategies and tactics, and provide thought leadership and specialist advice to business leaders. Key to the success of this role will be working collaboratively and constructively with Union and business representatives and other stakeholders on employment related arrangements. This role will also assume a broader lead on the industrial relations of the Downer New Zealand business, acting as the subject matter experience to support the HR Business units and wider operational teams to facilitate optimal people and business outcomes.
The role will report directly to the General Manager, HR, FS&U and also have a reporting relationship with the Executive General Manager, People & Culture, for wider Downer New Zealand activities. The National IR Manager will also represent Downer New Zealand with the broader Downer Group IR community.
You will consider yourself as an Industrial Relations specialist with extensive experience in a similar role within a large, complex and diverse organisation. You will have in depth understanding of NZ Unions and NZ employment law with demonstrated ability in developing and maintaining strong working relationships with Unions and their representatives. Your experience will be proven in your ability to work across multiple business areas and stakeholders at all levels, with real strength in influencing, negotiating and effectively able to manage shared outcomes. A tertiary qualification in a related discipline would be desirable, e.g. human resources, legal.
