As Network Inspector you will be based at our Penrose depot in Auckland and be working for both the Contract Engineer and Contract Manager providing support. 

As a market leader in infrastructure and engineering services, Downer understands and recognises the contribution employees make to the success of our business. As such, you will work autonomously doing inspections for the Auckland Central Maintenance Contract which includes assessments of roads, foot paths, kerb & channel, street signs, street furniture etc.  Ultimately you will inspect and where you find faults you will log defects, assist with treatment selection, oversee the repairs to close out and deliver on our contract requirements.

You will form part of a team engaged in providing transport services in all types of civil engineering and road corridor maintenance.

To simplify on a day-to-day basis you will be:

  • Inspecting road corridor assets, record all faults defects and propose suitable solutions
  • Ensure all operations meet Health & Safety requirements 
  • Identify risks and make corrective actions where required
  • Auditing completed work with a focus on quality
  • Assisting in the development of maintenance programmes
  • Providing support to field staff on field programming tools such as Pocket RAMM.

To be successful in this role it is essential that you have the following:

  • A proven track record in network inspection and fault identification/treatment selection preferably in the maintenance/roading industry.
  • Show willingness/provide solutions to assist with a “continual improvement” philosophy.
  • Organized and systematic approach to working environment
  • Strong planning and time management skills a must.
  • Ability to utilise the tablet and RAMM Software
  • A positive/proactive work ethic – you need to be self-disciplined as you will work unsupervised
  • Full clean, class 1 driver’s licence essential
