Our Facilities Services and Utilities business is uniquely diverse, providing services to our Downer, Spotless and AE Smith customers across the facilities management, three waters, power, gas, HVAC, telecommunications, automation, cleaning and hospitality sectors.  We have a great opportunity for an astute Commercial Manager to join our team, providing support across our business.

About your role
As part of our Commercial and Risk Team, you will be responsible for providing professional commercial advice to our business.  This could include reviewing tenders and advising on new business commercial strategies, helping resolve issues arising on operational contracts and supporting variations, disputes, or procurement activities.  You will also play a part in our risk review process for tenders or operational contracts.   Through your day-to-day activities you’ll be helping to embed commercial acumen within the operational business.

About you
You may come from the legal profession and be seeking a role where you can practically apply your commercial nous, or you may come from a similar commercial management role.  Either way, you’ll know your way around typical construction, infrastructure and services sector forms of contract, you’ll be a strategic thinker and solution-focussed, comfortable navigating complex issues while remaining cool, calm and collected dealing with competing priorities and immovable deadlines. 

You’ll couple this with:

  • Highly effective negotiation skills
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Great people skills and ability to effectively manage stakeholder relationships
  • The ability to take ownership of issues large and small, working these through to resolution
  • Your strength as a real team player, highly collaborative and able to act as a sounding board to your team and colleagues.
