About the role

Are you good with directions and enjoy being outdoors? This could be the perfect opportunity for you. We are looking for motivated individuals to join our energetic, tight knit, Traffic Management team. This is an exciting time for Queenstown, with massive maintenance and capital work projects underway. We are building our future and want you to join us!

As a Downer Traffic Controller, you will assist with Temporary Traffic Management under the direction of a Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS). Ultimately you will work to ensure the safety of your crew and the general public through clear and accurate direction of traffic. You will also:

  • Help with sign and cone placement and pack down
  • Assist with stop/go directing
  • Pick up driver duties
  • Assist with general tasks to help your crew achieve project plans and targets

About you

Along with your positive attitude and commitment to safety and quality, you will also bring with you:

  • A Class 1 full New Zealand license and an interest in learning to drive small truck. A class 2 license would be an advantage. 
  • Hold strong planning and problem solving skills with the ability to deal with unexpected events
  • Show us you are willing and able to fit in with our enthusiastic and competent team – In return we will provide you with the needed skills, training and certifications!
  • If you can commit to work Monday – Friday with the flexibility to work weekends and on call then we really want to hear from you!
  • Willingness to learn a range of other skills for when Traffic Management work is quiet, especially in winter - meaning your work is guaranteed
