Our Transport Services division is proud to be supporting Auckland with a range of projects to transform roads by constructing, maintaining, and extending roads and shared pathways around the network. But we can’t do it alone. We need your help to assist Downer deliver on existing and upcoming contracts!

About the role:
No two days will be the same in this Penrose based role. You will be a core team member who will carry out concrete road, footpath, kerb and channel construction and repair. Carry out general infrastructure building tasks, both small and large as part of a team and independently.

That’s not all, this role will give you the opportunity to push yourself and be involved in the planning, organising, directing and controlling activities and operations on site. On a day to day basis you will get amongst trench digging, concreting, digging out curb lines, back-filling, and general building support. You will also be responsible for:


About you:
You will be a team player with an organised and systematic approach to the working environment, with the ability to problem solve and step up as a leader when needed. You will have experience as a Carpenter or with work in a similar field. You will also have the following experience

  • Preferable to have several years’ experience in the civil contracting industry.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a specialised concrete and form work.
  • Desirable to have finished concrete work to pre-cast finishing standard.
  • Must have worked on large steel structures.
  • A proven track record of working constructively within a team.
  • Able to deal with unexpected events/make decisions and provide direction to work teams.
  • Organised and systematic approach to working environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.


We run a 7 day a week, 24-hour operation, working on projects across Auckland and surrounding regions, so you can expect some night and weekend work with the odd assignment requiring travel; we will need the successful applicant to be flexible with availability.
