We have an extensive national footprint with approximately 20 sites across Australia.

POSITION SUMMARY

Downer Rail & Transit Systems (RTS) is a leading name in the manufacturing and maintenance of rolling stock across Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager (Interface Manager) to play an integral role in the successful delivery of a major infrastructure project in Victoria; the rollout of the new High Capacity Metro Trains (HCMT).  The HCMT project is a Victorian Government initiative and a $2.3 billion investment in Victoria's rolling stock industry. 

As Interface Manager you will be based in our Pakenham East Depot  and report to the Director - HCS Implementation and be responsible for the project management of the High Capacity Signaling (HCS) integration with High Capacity Metro Trains (HCMT's).  This is a fixed term full time position for approximately 12 months.

You will be responsible for:

  • coordinating production activities to ensure train readiness for HCS testing including configuration management, resource planning and procurement,
  • coordinating routine train maintenance scheduling
  • interfacing with external parties to ensure on time delivery of the test schedule
  • attending and representing site activities at weekly working groups with internal and external stakeholders
  • management of the delivery schedule for site based activities
  • overseeing of technical failure investigation and escalation processes
  • acquiring and keep up to date knowledge of rail safety matters
  • ensuring the business has appropriate processes for receiving and considering information regarding incidents and risks and responding in a timely way to that information.

About you

  • You will be an experienced Project Manager, ideally with a background in construction and/or engineering or an experienced Senior Project Engineer ready to take that next step.  Ideally you will have experience in the rail industry but not essential;
  • Degree in Project Management and/or Engineering or similar is required;
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis;
  • Sound understanding of commercial processes, preferably under a Private Public Partnership (PPP model); 
  • Excellent computer skills;
  • You will be enthusiastic and outcomes focused with the ability to drive results and motivate others.
