Our Engineering Services business is built on two market sectors:

  • Water & Technology - focusing on water utilities, process control, digital engineering, decarbonisation technologies and critical infrastructure resilience.
  • Power & Renewables – focusing on power generation, distribution and the transformation of the energy sector.

As we continue our evolution of growth and innovation, the best people are critical to our success in supporting our customers and catering to market demands.  Due to the growth in securing and delivering large-scale Power and Infrastructure projects, we have an opportunity for a Senior Power Systems Engineer to be based at our Hexham office in Newcastle and join our national design team and be part of the successful delivery of our project portfolio.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role will require you to:

  • Prepare scopes of work, specifications, and estimates for all stages of the project lifecycle, including concept, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.
  • Produce detailed and “Approved for Construction” (AFC) electrical designs.
  • Undertake Power System Analysis using SKM PTW or similar products to study power system networks for load flow, fault level, harmonics, protection schemes and arc flash
  • Prepare earthing systems designs using CDEGs
  • Produce switchyard and substation designs.
  • Specify, evaluate and select HV & LV equipment.
  • Work with our other discipline engineers including control systems, mechanical & structural engineers as well as our construction and installation teams to produce complete solutions.
  • Undertake on-site HV & LV testing and commissioning (Both local and remote sites).

 ABOUT YOU

  • Engineering Degree (Electrical), with an Electrical Trade Licence highly regarded.
  • Experience in power system design, software modelling and calculation, together with preparation of estimates for engineering design works.
  • Experience in electrical design, fault finding and commissioning of industrial power systems plant and equipment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with an open and collaborative attitude.
  • Awareness of safety systems, legislation codes and contractual documentation.
