Due to the ongoing growth, our Whangarei team is on the hunt for an Operational Delivery Manager to help grow and deliver some of our more exciting and heavy maintenance projects. Reporting to the Contract Manager, you will be working on delivering minor works like pavements, levelling-jobs, benching, concrete replacement and some heavy maintenance work. Though reporting to the Contract Manager, you will also have a dotted line reporting to the Senior Operations Supervisor.

About the role
As a Operational Delivery Manager, you will be engaged in guiding our young and enthusiastic maintenance team. Your focus for the next 12 months will be to build the capacity and quality in the pavement repairs space. You will have the opportunity to grow the program and methodology - ensuring that Downer’s reputation is held high. Your day to day activities will include but not limit to:

  • Lead a team of direct reports- a site foreman, a couple of operator drivers, and a few labourers.
  • Work on resource management and allocation of jobs.
  • Liaise with internal departments, multiple external clients and subcontractors.
  • Streamline pavement processes to ensure that the outcome is beneficial for both the client as well as Downer.
  • Work on financial reporting and to be able to program efficiently to ensure Downer as a whole is able to deliver.

About you
You don’t essentially need to have any formal qualifications, but experience and knowledge in pavement repairs or roading maintenance will be key. You will also:

  • Have effective communication skills including the ability to confidently communicate at all levels and get on with everyone
  • Be motivated and enjoy watching others grow
  • Bring your savvy business acumen especially when it comes to financial reporting
  • Be confident with computer systems especially MS Office suite and able to pick up new systems and processes
