We have a fantastic opportunity for an Environment and Sustainability Advisor to join our team in Wangaratta. This role is a full-time position working on Victoria’s major road projects.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Senior Environment and Sustainability Advisor you will be responsible for monitoring compliance within the project contract, ensuring all operations are conducted in accordance with relevant legislation and approvals. In addition, the role is to identify and implement any feasible improvement opportunities. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing advice for environmental approvals and due diligence assessments
Participating in 3rd party Authority Audits.
Providing technical advice to projects and the long-term maintenance contracts across Federal / State approvals and licences.
Reviewing and providing advice on environmental monitoring programs and results.
Managing a register of environmental licences for compliance; identifying and escalating potential non-conformances.
Developing and implementing an audit schedule to ensure ongoing compliance needs are met.
Undertake site travel and support as required
Develop and maintain Environmental Management Plan, Recycled First Plan initiatives and sub-plans
Ensure sites and assets comply with environmental licences/permits/approvals and legislation
Support, Advise and review environmental incidents, risks and opportunities
ABOUT YOU
Tertiary Qualifications (Degree) in Environmental Science/ Engineering/ Energy / Management, Sustainability or similar.
Minimum 2-3 years environmental management experience. Experience in road construction and/or a maintenance environment will be highly regarded.
Ability to use MS Excel and other applications to analyse, and communicate data.
Ability to understand and learn new software applications quickly.
Current Drivers licence.
Collaborative team player with strong communication skills, both verbally and written with all levels of an organisation.
High attention to detail and analytical skills.
Effective planning, time management and organisational skills.
