About the role

We have an exciting opportunity in Nelson for a Foreperson who will be leading the crew as we carry out works for the top of the South! Spend your days outdoors and on your feet enjoying the fresh air and mountain views, whilst taking your career to the next level with Downer!

Working on a variety of projects, no two days will be the same. You’ll be leading your crew by setting up sites and providing general scopes of projects whilst maintaining a strong focus on delivering excellence with zero harm. Current projects include maintenance works on roading, pavements, and drainage. Leading from the front in this hands on role, you will also have operational duties such as operating machinery and general labouring. 

About you

Along with your civil experience as a Foreperson, you will be organised, as effective planning is crucial to the success of this role. You will also have a proven record of leadership experience as you will need to be a respected leader providing direction and controlling activities whilst also working alongside the team in the field. Other experience we will be looking for are:

• Minimum Class 4 full New Zealand Drivers licence with WTR endorsements
• A proven track record of operating a range of civil machinery to a high standard
• Commitment to safe workplace practices
• Clear communication skills with the ability to build rapport with stakeholders and easily chat with your crew
