WHO WE ARE

Rail Systems Engineering (RSE), a Downer company, is an engineering group specialising in Systems Engineering, Signalling Design and Installation, Over Head Wiring and Technical Systems Integration. Formed in 2018, Rail Systems Engineering now boast over 180 staff members supporting an Infrastructure business with annual revenues exceeding $1.5 billion. We are very proud to be part of an Australia owned company, Downer, who currently employee over 40 thousand staff. The RSE team provides a unique opportunity for existing practitioners to utilise and expand their existing skills, to expand their knowledge and to support those wishing to enter the RSE environment through our graduate mentoring program, or direct employment as a Junior Engineer

THE PROJECT

The Djilang Alliance, comprising Downer, McConnell Dowell, Arup and WSP Australia, has been selected as the preferred contractor for the South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication.

The South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication is part of the Australian and Victorian governments’ more than $1 billion investment in the staged upgrade of the Geelong Line and a critical step in delivering more frequent and reliable services.

The Project comprises:

• Duplication of eight kilometres of track between South Geelong and Waurn Ponds
• Rebuilding of South Geelong and Marshall stations featuring new station buildings and forecourts, second platforms and accessible pedestrian overpasses
• Removal of the level crossings at Fyans Street and Surf Coast Highway and replaced with elevated rail bridges
• Installation of a brand-new Signalling system between South Geelong and Waurn Ponds
• Replacement of Five level crossings and pedestrian crossings to current standards.
• More than five kilometres of new shared user paths linking to existing trails and paths and creating a continuous connection between South Geelong and Waurn Ponds.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The newly formed Djilang Alliance are now seeking enthusiastic members to be engaged by Downer Rail Signalling team on a full-time permanent basis. You will be based at the South Geelong project site office with the Signalling team.

We are looking for the following:

• Senior Signalling Project Engineers
• Project Signalling Engineers
• Site Engineers
• Testing & Commissioning Engineers
• Junior Engineers
• Graduate Engineers  

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification
• Have a passion for delivering superior service across our organisation
• Ability to perform all duties with a high degree of accuracy with strong attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to organise and prioritise own workload
• Experience with an Authorised Rail Operator (ARO), Rail systems is ideal
