Downer Rail and Transit Systems (RTS) is looking for a Senior Safety Assurance Engineer to be a key member of the Engineering & Technology Team.

The Senior Safety Assurance Engineer will take on a leading role in ensuring Downer’s Zero Harm values are adhered to, and Downer remains compliant to system safety, regulatory and customer requirements. Working within the Engineering & Technology team, the focus of this role is to help Downer achieve our vision to be the industry leading asset maintenance provider, through the implementation and optimisation of digital tools and analytics.

The Role:

Reporting to the Discipline Manager of Safety Assurance, you will be responsible for providing safety engineering and conduct associated activities that underpin safety assurance of the assigned assets. You will ensure that effective safety assurance systems are implemented and utilised which deliver defined business objectives whilst ensuring overall compliance to system safety, regulatory and customer requirements.

To achieve the above the successful candidate will bring:

The role will also require the following technical skills and knowledge:

• Degree qualification in Engineering or Technology
• 10+ years of experience working with safety assurance systems.
• Significant experience leading teams and managing internal stakeholders.
• Background in railway/rollingstock operations (highly desirable)
• Knowledge of Australian Railway standards (EN50126, EN50128 & EN50129, AS4292)
• Knowledge of RISSB Hazards register
• IEAUST membership (highly desirable)
