About the job: We are after experienced and developing Traffic Management professionals to join our whanau in New Plymouth, deliver to project plans, and get home safely at the end of each day. As a Downer Traffic Controller, you will assist with Temporary Traffic Management under the direction of a Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS). Ultimately you will work to ensure the safety of your crew and the general public through clear and accurate direction of traffic.
As a core member of the team you’ll help with sign and cone placement and pack down, conduct stop/go direction activity, pick up driver duties and assist with general tasks to help the crew achieve daily project plans.
Based out of our New Plymouth depot, this is a full time-permanent position, guaranteeing 40 hours work with occasional weekend and night shifts. If you like spending your time outdoors and in the community, this is the role for you! About you: We are looking for individuals who are willing to learn and who are looking to develop a career in Traffic Management. Along with your outgoing attitude and commitment to safe workplace practices, you will take pride in your work, be a solid team player and like to have a good laugh! We’d really value:
A Class 1 Full New Zealand drivers licence
A TTM cert, Traffic Controller or Traffic Management Operative Warrant (beneficial)
A passion for physical activity and be fit, energetic and self-motivated
Strong planning and problem solving skills with the ability to deal with unexpected events
The ability to commit to work Monday – Friday with the flexibility to work weekends and on call
Good verbal skills to communicate on the radio and the confidence to communicate with the general public
